JYP Entertainment and the renowned U.S. music label Republic Records have joined forces to unveil a new girl group named VCHA, a creation born out of the "A2K" initiative, short for America2Korea—an audition program dedicated to forming a transnational girl group. The episodes of A2K were aired on JYP's official YouTube channel from July 14 to Sept. 22, adopting the acclaimed K-pop training system responsible for crafting successful acts like Twice and ITZY.
Comprising six finalists from A2K—Lexi, Camila, Savanna, Kendall, KG, and Kaylee—all hailing from the United States, VCHA is set to illuminate the global stage with their talent and artistry. The name "VCHA" was personally devised by Park Jin-young, a prominent singer and producer at JYP Entertainment, symbolizing their intent to illuminate the world and their fans, as noted in the agency's official press release.
Marking their pre-debut, VCHA recently released "SeVit," a three-track compilation introducing their lead track titled "Y.O.Universe" on Sept. 22. While the group's official debut date is yet to be confirmed, "SeVit," pronounced in Korean as "new light," encapsulates the essence of this promising venture. The lead track, "Y.O.Universe," is a vibrant pop anthem spreading a message of empowerment, emphasizing the uniqueness and value of every individual.
