Since 2015 OBSCURA opened as SPACE IKKI in Seongbuk-dong, Seongbuk-gu, Seoul. Obscura, which means 'dark room' in Latin, is a tool that contains the principles of the first optical device to paint through holes in light. Roland Barthes said that "lucida" from "dark room" to capture outside reality.
The main purpose of Obscura is to conducts performative utterance of post modernism, to communicate contemporary arts with a wide range of art appreciators and to expand various cultural contents for interdisciplinary research. Furthermore, the Obscura is delighted toward sophisticated art work with a solid identity of the artists. It has been simultaneously supported and promoted by contemporary artists with more than 70 exhibitions in the fields of painting, installation, photography and new genre.
