On Wednesday, production company SLL (Studio LuluLala) proudly announced that the acclaimed JTBC drama "Reborn Rich," featuring Song Joong-ki in the lead role, has received a nomination for the esteemed International Emmy Awards. This recognition amplifies the show's impact on the global stage.
"Reborn Rich" follows the compelling narrative of Yoon Hyun-woo, portrayed by Song Joong-ki, an employee of a chaebol group. The storyline unfolds as Hyun-woo meets a tragic fate, becoming a victim of murder orchestrated by the powerful chaebol family to conceal their misdeeds. However, he is reincarnated as the son of his murderers and embarks on a vengeful journey against the family in his newfound life. The drama garnered immense attention and achieved a remarkable national viewership rating of 26.9 percent with its concluding episode.
The International Emmy Awards, now in its 51st edition, recognizes and honors outstanding television programs from countries outside the United States. Renowned as one of the preeminent broadcasting awards globally, it stands alongside the Canada’s Banff World Media Festival and the Monte-Carlo Television Festival held in Monaco.
In addition to "Reborn Rich," this year's International Emmy Awards features nominations for notable shows such as fellow Korean drama "Extraordinary Attorney Woo" from channel ENA, "Iosi, El Espia Arrepentido" from Argentina, and "The Empress" from Germany.
The 2023 International Emmy Awards ceremony is scheduled for November 20 and will be presented by the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. This nomination further underscores the growing international recognition of Korean dramas and their impact on the global television landscape.
