Live Nation Cracks Down on Scalpers, Finds and Nullifies Over 60 Illegal Dealt Tickets

SEOUL - The upcoming Hyundai Card Super Concert 27 featuring American singer-songwriter Bruno Mars has caused quite a stir among fans in Seoul, but ticket scalping has led to illegal transactions and exorbitant prices. In response, concert organizer Live Nation has announced a crackdown on illegal ticket sales and the nullification of over 60 illegally dealt tickets.

Scheduled for June 17 and 18 at the Jamsil Olympic Main Stadium in southern Seoul, the highly anticipated concert has already attracted over 130,000 online queuers trying to purchase tickets, which range from 77,000 won ($58) to 250,000 won. However, scalpers have easily sold tickets with preferred seating locations for double their original price, with some even fetching nearly six times the original price.

To combat the illegal sales, Live Nation released a statement on Thursday that it had found and confirmed 60 unauthorized ticket sales online, which were promptly canceled and nullified without any notice. The organizer has vowed to continue checking for unauthorized ticket sales.

Despite the ban on ticket sales through unauthorized sites, some scalpers have still managed to sell tickets at inflated prices. Two ground floor tickets, for instance, were recently listed on a ticket resale website for 3,000,000 won, almost six times the original price.

This incident is not unique to the Bruno Mars concert, as ticket scalping has been a persistent issue in the entertainment industry. However, Live Nation's swift response to cancel illegally dealt tickets is a step towards curbing this illegal activity and ensuring fair access to concert tickets for fans.
