Taemin, a distinguished member of the iconic K-pop group SHINee, has made an enthralling return to the music scene after a hiatus of two years and five months, unveiling his fourth mini album, "Guilty," on Monday. This momentous comeback is led by the captivating title track "Guilty" and features five additional tracks, including "The Rizzness," "She Loves Me, She Loves Me Not," "Not Over You," "Night Away," and "Blue."
At a press conference held in Seoul, Taemin shared insights into his latest musical endeavor, stating, "I tried to portray my identity in this album by accentuating my musical characteristics in the songs. I also tried to show an enhanced version of myself as an artist. Different from my previous conceptual singles, this album comprises more casual and easy-to-listen-to songs within the pop genre."
The title track, "Guilty," boasts an alluring combination of string instruments and dynamic synth sounds, creating an addictive hook that resonates with listeners. Taemin described the song as delving into "selfish love that forces one's way of loving others without considering their feelings."
Taemin's dedication to crafting the choreography for "Guilty" was evident. He collaborated with renowned choreographer Casper and Lee Bada, who is currently starring in the second season of Mnet's dancing competition show, "Street Woman Fighter," to create visually striking movements. He also filmed a dance challenge video for the title track with Seventeen's Hoshi, fueling excitement for potential future collaborations.
The accompanying music video for "Guilty" is a cinematic masterpiece, with Taemin sharing, "I wanted the music video to tell a story. In it, I am a young boy who lives under control in a shelter. The supervisors in that shelter forced me to hurt my friends, which makes me revolt and become the alpha man."
This release marks Taemin's 15th debut anniversary since his inception as a member of the legendary K-pop group SHINee. Despite his impressive tenure, Taemin continues to evolve and deliver innovative music and performances. "I love my job, and that is what motivates me to make something new and better," he expressed during the press conference. "Being able to continue singing is valuable, and I am grateful for the love and support I've received over my 15-year career."
As a special treat for fans, Taemin is set to hold a solo concert, "Metamorph," on December 16-17, marking his return to solo performances after nearly five years. He tantalizingly hinted, "You can look forward to performances and stage effects never before seen elsewhere. It will be an innovative concert." Fans around the world await this captivating musical journey with great anticipation.
