In a recent Billboard 200 update, Jungkook's first solo album, "Golden," debuted at No. 2 on the chart. The album's arrival followed Taylor Swift's "1989 (Taylor's Version)," which maintained its top position for the second consecutive week.
The Billboard 200 ranks albums based on equivalent album units, encompassing physical sales and digital records in the United States. "Golden" earned a total of 210,200 equivalent album units, with 164,800 coming from physical album sales.
According to the U.S. music magazine, "Golden" marked the highest physical album sales for the week ending Nov. 9.
The album, released on Nov. 3, showcases Jungkook's evolution from BTS's "golden maknae" to a global pop star. The term "golden maknae" is a fan-given nickname, highlighting his versatility and proficiency as the youngest member of the group.
Comprising 11 tracks, including "Standing Next to You" and "Seven," "Golden" features standout hits like "3D," which debuted at No. 1 and No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100, respectively.
This achievement marks Jungkook's first appearance on the Billboard 200 chart, making him the sixth member of BTS to achieve a top 10 position. Overall, BTS has secured seven top 10s, including six No. 1s.
Since its release, "Golden" has sold 2.4 million copies as of midnight Friday, based on data from Hanteo Chart, establishing itself as the best-selling debut album by a K-pop soloist in its first week.
