Renowned Actor Explores a Sinister Persona as a Heartless Serial Killer in Upcoming Psychological Thriller

Yoo Yeon-seok, widely recognized for his amiable roles in "Hospital Playlist" and "Reply 1994," is set to showcase a darker facet of his acting prowess in Tving's forthcoming original series, "A Bloody Lucky Day." The esteemed actor delves into the character of a heartless serial killer, a stark departure from his previous affable portrayals. The series has received the honor of being invited to the esteemed "On Screen" section of the 28th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF).

In preparation for his role, Yoo delved into the psyche of real-life psychopaths, aiming to authentically embody the chilling character. "As I prepared for the character, I researched videos that interviewed actual psychopaths … And the common trait they had is that they had very sharp and focused eyes when they were talking," he mentioned during the special Guest Visit event for the series.

Based on the webcomic of the same title, "A Bloody Lucky Day" unfolds as a psychological thriller, following the journey of a taxi driver named Oh-taek, played by Lee Sung-min. The story takes a twisted turn when a seemingly fortuitous day takes a harrowing twist as Oh realizes that he unwittingly has a serial killer, portrayed by Yoo, as his last customer.

Yoo revealed that this role came at a time when he was yearning to embody characters distinct from his usual repertoire. "When I was offered the role, I was filming a medical series … And because I had been playing gentle, sophisticated and kind characters lately, I had a passion to show a different side," he shared.

Lee Sung-min, who made waves with his portrayal of a ruthless chairman in "Reborn Rich," confessed the challenges he faced in embodying an ordinary man thrown into an extraordinary, suspense-filled situation. He emphasized the need for careful calculation and planning in portraying the character's emotions.

"A Bloody Lucky Day" is slated to captivate audiences on the streaming platform in November, offering a riveting and chilling narrative that promises to keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
