Gallery Hyundai is delighted to present a solo exhibition featuring the pioneering Korean conceptual artist, Sung Neung Kyung, known for his unique aesthetic of irony and unconventional approach to art. Titled "Botched Art: The Meanderings of Sung Neung Kyung," this exhibition offers a glimpse into Kyung's remarkable career through a curated collection of 140 works in a mini retrospective, showcasing his thought-provoking conceptual art and innovative photo-installations.
Running from August 23 to October 8, 2023, the exhibition encapsulates Kyung's journey as an artist, challenging conventional grammars of art and traditional aesthetics. From iconic works like "Contraction and Expansion" and "Index Finger" to his 1980s "Venue" series and later endeavors such as "S's Posterity: Botched Art Is More Beautiful" and "Master Bedroom," Kyung's art narrates a deeply personal yet universally resonant story.
Kyung's works have a distinct charm, reflecting a life lived through the turbulence of the past century.
