South Korean singer Chuu is set to kick off her inaugural tour as a solo artist in the United States in December, with performances scheduled in seven cities across the North American country.
Titled "Howl," the tour will commence in Oakland on December 3, with subsequent stops in Denver, Washington, New York, Atlanta, and Dallas, culminating on December 17.
Chuu's tour shares its name with her first EP, "Howl," which was released on October 18. This release marked her first new project following a legal dispute with her former agency, BlockBerry Creative, which began two years ago.
In January 2022, Chuu filed for an injunction against her exclusive contract with BlockBerry Creative, which was the agency for the girl group Loona, of which she was a member. She cited unfair contracts and mistreatment as her reasons for the legal action.
In March of the same year, the court ruled in favor of Chuu. Subsequently, a contentious back-and-forth ensued between Chuu and her former agency. BlockBerry Creative officially "expelled" Chuu from Loona in November 2022, and Chuu came forward with allegations of mistreatment by the company.
In August of the current year, a local court ruled in Chuu's favor, legally terminating her exclusive contract with BlockBerry Creative after a year and eight months of legal battles.
Chuu's "Howl" EP marks a new beginning following the resolution of her complex legal case. The release achieved notable success, selling over 57,000 copies within its first week, and the music video for the EP's title track has garnered more than 16 million views as of Wednesday.
Before embarking on her U.S. tour, Chuu will hold concerts at Sungshin Women's University's Woonjung Green Campus Auditorium in Gangbuk District, northern Seoul, on November 4 and November 5.
