On October 5th, from the beginning of fall, HUH Daljae presents about 20 ‘White and Red Plums’ in his solo exhibition.
The exhibition "HUH DAL JAE"
HUH Daljae, a painter who is loved all over the world because he describes most Korean things. Since HUH’s large-scale Plum Blossoms series sold out at Abu Dhabi art fair last year, his works have been included in the collection of the Royal Families of Abu Dhabi, even though the works were painted in Korean painting.
HUH Daljae is also known by the pen name ‘Jickhun,’ which is called ‘ho’ in Korea. Jickhun means right-mindedness. Under this name, he describes the objects with bold and exquisite techniques and elegant colors and creates a new style.
HUH inherited the tradition of Korean painting from his grandfather HUH Baek-ryun, who was master of ‘The Southern School Literati Painting,’ often called ‘literati painting,‘ in the modern and contemporary period of Korea.
Based on the traditional method, HUH continues his spirit to express the feeling of the object in his mind with his own unique characteristics and thoughts, and already represents ‘The NEW Southern School Literati Painting.'
“I am working on artworks that continue the tradition of oriental painting with modernity. I believe we should show our own identity based on tradition,” he added.
“This is the first exhibition of HUH Daljae at LEE HWAIK Gallery. We are very pleased to present his works after he achieved amazing outcomes from overseas,” said LEE HWAIK Gallery.
Including a large-scale 4-panel reaching 4 meters, works of various sizes that beautifully expressed white and red plums up to 50 centimeters or less will be exhibited until October 25.
