South Korean Female Composer Wins Prestigious Classical Music Award

South Korean composer Unsuk Chin has won the International Classical Music Awards (ICMA) for an album she composed and performed by the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.
Unsuk Chin submitted her album, “Berlin Philharmonic Unsuk Chin Edition,” in the Modern Music category, which was selected as the winning entry.
The award-winning album, released in December 2023, features orchestral and concerto works performed by the Berlin Philharmonic between 2005 and 2022, showcasing the depth of her collaboration with the renowned orchestra.
This award further highlights the global recognition of South Korean classical artists, such as Cho Seong Jin and Lim Yunchan, and elevates the status of Korea’s classical music scene on the world stage.
