KBS has announced that singer and actor Park Ji-hoon and actor Hong Ye-ji will take the lead roles in the upcoming fantasy period series, "Love Song for Illusion."
Adapted from a well-known webcomic of the same name, the series revolves around a romantic tale between a man with a dual personality and a woman burdened with a dark history.
Park Ji-hoon will play the role of Hyun, a crown prince living with a concealed identity and an alternate persona named Ak-hee. Hyun is a versatile individual who secretly works as a fashion designer at a boutique while hiding his royal lineage and coping with childhood trauma stemming from his father's abuse. Ak-hee, on the other hand, is Hyun's charming alternate personality who is cursed to experience intense pain when touched.
Hong Ye-ji will portray Yeon Wol, hailing from a once-prestigious clan that fell and was decimated by the royal government. She was raised as an assassin and initially aims to infiltrate the palace to assassinate the king. However, an unexpected turn of events leads her to wake up as the crown prince's concubine.
Directed by Lee Jung-sub, known for previous works like the 2021 rom-com series "Dali and Cocky Prince" and the 2017 period series "Queen For Seven Days," the series is penned by Yoon Kyung-ah, the writer of the 2019 teen series "At Eighteen."
Park Ji-hoon, who initially began his career as a child actor, gained prominence after participating in Mnet's "Produce 101" in 2017, eventually debuting as part of the group Wanna One. Following a return to acting, he has starred in various series and received the Best New Actor award at the Blue Dragon Series Awards in 2022 for his role in the series "Weak Hero Class 1."
Scheduled for broadcast in January, "Love Song for Illusion" is set to captivate audiences with its enchanting narrative and intriguing characters.
