The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) personality test has gained significant popularity among young Koreans seeking self-exploration. Last Monday, K-pop boy group NCT DREAM embraced this trend by incorporating MBTI concepts into their third full-length album, aptly titled "ISTJ." The album's lead single, also named "ISTJ," is a captivating hip-hop dance track that delves into the dynamics between ENFP-type boys and ISTJ-type girls, exploring the allure of these contrasting personalities.

During a press event held at a hotel in Seoul's Songpa District, NCT DREAM's Canadian leader Mark expressed their intention to promote the MBTI phenomenon to a global audience. "The MBTI test has gained immense popularity in Korea, and we wanted to introduce it to a wider audience," he stated. "We saw this as an opportunity to embrace a new challenge by incorporating MBTI elements into our music for the first time. In our song, NCT DREAM members assume the role of the ENFP boys, while our fans embody the ISTJ-type girls."

Chinese member Renjun elaborated on the lyrics, highlighting the playful and fresh perspective they bring. "Through the lyrics, we question why we are attracted to our opposites. It's a fun exploration of this dynamic," he shared.

Despite their involvement in the project, Jaemin emphasized that people should not judge others solely based on their MBTI test results. "While the MBTI test is unique and special, I personally believe we should not rely solely on these results to make judgments about others," he cautioned. Renjun echoed this sentiment, stating, "I have never taken the test before, and I am not particularly inclined to judge people based on their MBTI types. Each individual possesses their own unique charms and characteristics."

In addition to the lead single, the "ISTJ" album features nine other tracks, including "Broken Melodies," "Yogurt Shake," "Skateboard," "Blue Wave," "Poison," "SOS," "Pretzel," "Starry Night," and "Like We Just Met." "Like We Just Met" holds a special significance for the seven members of NCT DREAM, as they all participated in writing the lyrics.

Chinese member Chenle expressed his satisfaction with the collaborative effort, particularly noting the significance of writing lyrics in Korean for the first time. "It was the first time that all seven of us contributed to the lyrics of a song," Chenle shared. "For me, it was also my first experience writing lyrics in Korean, and I am pleased with the outcome."

NCT DREAM has reached new heights in their career with "ISTJ," boasting an astounding 4.2 million pre-orders. However, the group remains humble and believes they still have much to accomplish.

Jaemin reflected on their growth, highlighting their substantial contributions to the album. "We invested a great deal of ideas and time in the creation of this album," he explained, revealing that their meetings often lasted over three hours per day. "I believe this is a testament to our growth. Nevertheless, I always feel that we are just at the beginning stage."

Jisung chimed in, expressing the group's enduring passion and determination. "Many people lose their enthusiasm as time passes, but we are more passionate and committed than ever before," he shared. "Although seven years have passed since our debut, each of us continues to strive for improvement."

Jeno expressed the group's ongoing ambition to reach a global audience and their commitment to exploring new avenues for their music. "We always aspire to present our group and our songs to people worldwide, and we will continue to explore different ways to achieve that," he stated.

With their incorporation of MBTI themes and their unwavering dedication, NCT DREAM stands poised to captivate audiences worldwide, showcasing their musical growth and aspirations for the future.
