K-pop sensation BTS' Jimin and girl group NewJeans have both earned nominations in four categories for the upcoming 2023 Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs).
The complete list of nominees for the 2023 BBMAs, announced on Thursday (U.S. time), revealed that Jimin is a finalist in four categories: Top Selling Song for "Like Crazy," Top Global K-Pop Artist, Top K-Pop Album for "Face," and Top Global K-Pop Song for "Like Crazy."
NewJeans, on the other hand, secured four nominations with five entries: Top Billboard Global (Excl. U.S.) Artist, Top Global K-Pop Artist, Top K-Pop Album for "Get Up," and Top Global K-Pop Song for "Ditto" and "OMG."
Girl group TWICE is in the running for three awards, while boy groups Stray Kids and Tomorrow X Together each received two nominations.
Despite their current hiatus due to a contract dispute with their agency, rookie group Fifty Fifty is a finalist in two categories: Top Duo/Group and Top Global K-Pop Song for "Cupid."
Additionally, girl group BLACKPINK and BTS' members Suga and Jungkook have been nominated in one category each: Top K-Pop Touring Artist and Top Global K-Pop Song for "Seven (feat. Latto)."
The Billboard Music Awards, among the three major music awards in the American music industry, alongside the American Music Awards and the Grammy Awards, are set to take place on November 19. This year, the BBMAs introduced four new K-pop categories, significantly expanding their recognition of artists from the K-pop industry.
Notably, only Jimin, NewJeans, and Fifty Fifty received nominations in non-K-pop categories. At the 2022 BBMAs, BTS clinched three awards, including Top Duo/Group, Top Selling Song Sales Artist, and Top Selling Song. The 2023 edition of the BBMAs will be livestreamed on Billboard's official social media channels.
