Kohei Nawa is a contemporary artist from Japan who conducts creative activities in various genres such as painting, drawing, sculpture, and installation.
He considers the way individual lives are intertwined in the composition of the huge universe.
The artist has long been interested in various viewpoints on visual distortion and paradox. He captures the wonder and weirdness of the vast universe in his work.
One of Kohei's series, 'PixCell', transforms and distorts the shape of an actual object by attaching transparent circular pieces to objects. This visual action is reminiscent of the way digital technology intervenes in individuals and the physical world today.
Another of his series, 'Spark', is a mysterious black sculpture made of velvet and tampon fiber rods. Through the work, he captures the cracks in the current state created by the energy released by the movement of cells.
Kohei is holding his solo exhibition, 'Cosmic Sensibility' In South Korea. The exhibition will be held until Jan. 6 at Pace Gallery Seoul In Yongsan-gu, Seoul.
