The action series "Teenage Mercenary" on Naver Webtoon has reached a historic milestone on Naver Webtoon Japan, setting a new record for the platform.
According to Naver Webtoon, the series achieved remarkable monthly sales of 1.6 billion won (approximately $1.18 million) in September. It also garnered an impressive 300 million accumulated reads from Japanese fans.
The series, created by webtoon artists YC and Rakyeon, centers around the story of Yu Ijin, who, after losing his parents in a plane crash, becomes a child mercenary to survive in a foreign land.
"Teenage Mercenary" began serialization in November 2020 and has been published in ten languages, including English, French, Japanese, Thai, Chinese, German, and more.
Since its debut on Naver Webtoon's Japanese platform, Line Manga, in 2021, "Teenage Mercenary" has risen to become a highly acclaimed webtoon among Japanese readers, reaching the No. 1 position on Line Manga's best webtoon chart in 2022.
As of October, the series has amassed over 1.1 billion accumulated reads, establishing itself as one of the company's most popular global intellectual properties.
