Victoria Miro Gallery is a British modern art gallery in London run by Victoria Miro. Miro opened his first gallery on Cork Street in 1985, moving to a larger building in Islington in 2000 and later opening a second space on St George Street in Mayfair.
March 21 - 25, 2023 Booth 1C21, Preview 21, March 22, Public Date March 23-25, 2023 Victoria Miro presented a new and historical exhibition by Milton Avery, Hernan Bas at Art Basel Hong Kong (Booth 1C21). published the work. Participating artists are María Berrío, Inka Essenhigh, Secundino Hernández, Kudzanai-Violet Hwami, Chantal Joffe, Yayoi Kusama, Doron Langberg, Alice Neel, Chris Ofili, Celia Paul and Flora Yukhnovich. The exhibition included new and recent works by Chantal Joffe, Kudzanai-Violet Hwami, Doron Langberg, Celia Paul, and Flora Yukhnovich.
Among the important historical pieces on view are paintings by Milton Avery and Alice Neel. Two of Yayoi Kusama's 2018 works are united in a vibrant green and black palette. PUMPKIN is a painted bronze sculpture with curvilinear shapes adorned with a pattern of tapered dots that create sophisticated geometry. Figure INFINITY DOTS [QGFUU] is almost abstract, dotted vertical forms fluttering with optical energy. New recent works include paintings by Chantal Joffe, Kudzanai-Violet Hwami, Doron Langberg, Celia Paul, and Flora Yukhnovich.
One of the most influential artists of the 20th century, Milton Avery (1885–1965) is known for his luminous paintings of landscapes, portraits, and still lifes. From the beginning of his career, Avery's way of working (from sketch to watercolor to canvas painting) has involved drawing and reevaluating an experience or memory of a place.
