Japanese artist 'Yuichi Hirako' who created 'Treeman' holds a solo exhibition in Seoul.

Hirako is an artist who expresses his view of art in a variety of ways, from painting to sculpture and installation art.

He was born in Okayama, Japan, and spent his childhood with nature. He became interested in attitudes toward nature and the relationship between humans while studying in London because he saw people admiring artificial nature such as trees and parks.

the artist created 'Treeman' to convey the topic of nature and human relations. 'Treeman' refers to a tree spirit in Japanese folktales and symbolizes the artist's self-portrait and everyone who has a relationship with nature.

He reveals that he was heavily influenced by Ghibli animations and cartoons. He explained "Using characters are good way to convey what the artist wants to say", and added, "But the character should be a part of the story not just purpose itself.

In this exhibition, the audience can participate in some installation sculptures directly, such as pinball machines that operate when coins are inserted. These installation sculptures will provide interest to visitors.
