Hae-kyung Yu's solo exhibition, 'On A Clear Valley' is held in Seoul.
Yu is an artist who draws in her style with a modern perspective on traditional Korean landscape paintings. In the exhibition, she presents works depicting familiar and unpredictable mysterious mountains.
The artist expresses the phenomenon in which dichotomous boundaries such as nature and civilization, old and modern things, are naturally broken down. She created a mysterious scene in which abstraction and facts coexist in the painting with her sensibility, reminiscent of a modern building with a vertical and horizontal direction.
If traditional Korean landscape paintings aimed for utopia through the mountains, Yu focuses more on the way she freely expresses her wishes. In the exhibition, a three-dimensional production was presented using installations and relief as well as flat landscape paintings.
The artist applied the lifestyle of modern people to her paintings, which must accept new things while considering the nature of Korean painting, which must preserve tradition. With the artist's agony, the audience will be able to think about respect for nature and the infinity and finiteness of life.
The exhibition will be held at Gallery Doll in Jongro-gu, Seoul until the 3rd.
