In a highly anticipated move, CIX, the popular five-piece boy band, unveiled their sixth EP, "'OK' Episode 2: I'm OK," marking the conclusion of their remarkable "OK" series. The group's dedicated fanbase eagerly attended a media showcase event just hours before the album's release, adding to the excitement surrounding this momentous occasion.
During the event, the CIX members—BX, Seunghun, Yonghee, Baejinyoung, and Hyunsuk—expressed their enthusiasm for the new release and shared their insights on the progression of their musical journey. With a newfound maturity stemming from their experiences, including an extensive world tour, the band seamlessly integrated these transformative moments into their latest album.
BX, the leader of CIX, spoke about the group's growth, stating, "We've improved and grown in many parts through various activities, including the world tour, and we melted them into this album." Their second world tour, titled "Save Me, Kill Me," saw them captivate audiences across 18 cities in Europe, the United States, and Japan, making it their most extensive concert series to date.
Seunghun emphasized the band's dedication to their international fans, acknowledging the tremendous support they received during their global concerts. He stated, "We poured in our everything (during the global concerts) for our foreign fans who have waited for us. In return, (we) received as much energy from them. It was how we could prepare for this album." Yonghee added that CIX would be hitting the stage again in no time, eager to connect with their devoted fanbase.
Interestingly, the tour was aptly named after the title song of their new album, "Save Me, Kill Me." Baejinyoung revealed that the album and its title track had been completed before the tour began, effectively acting as a significant spoiler for their fans. Seunghun disclosed that the band had dedicated nearly two years to training for this single song, which they initially received in the winter of 2021. Overcoming their initial concerns about delivering the song's message effectively, CIX poured their efforts into refining their performance and capturing the essence of the music.
The release of "'OK' Episode 2: I'm OK" signifies the culmination of CIX's second musical series, "OK." The series commenced in August 2021 with their first LP, "'OK' Prologue: Be OK," and continued with the second EP, "'OK' Episode 1: OK Not," released in August 2022. This final installment explores the dual nature of youth, encapsulating both its beauty and its ability to inflict emotional pain as individuals strive to define themselves.
BX commented on the band's intentions behind the album, stating, "As it's our last episode of the series, we wanted to show that we have matured. Although the lyrics of the songs are sad, we also console (the listeners) through them." CIX's thoughtful approach to storytelling is evident in their meticulously planned narrative, which has been unfolding gradually since their debut in 2019. By unveiling their story bit by bit through new albums and content, they have established a universe that intricately weaves together various projects. For example, the new album intertwines with their second EP, "'Hello' Chapter 2: Hello, Strange Place," released in November 2019, although the precise connection remains undisclosed.
Intriguingly, CIX's narrative-building approach encompasses different timelines.
