The Daejeon Museum of Art (DMA) is set to host the fourth installment of its 2024 special series, DMA Busking, with the Daejeon Music Festival. This event series, taking place throughout November, will bring renowned musicians to the city, aiming to strengthen ties within the community through art and music.

The Daejeon Music Festival begins on November 9 with a recital by esteemed pianist Han Jung-gang. Pianist Yoo Hyun-jin and violinist Jeong Hana will join him on stage, providing audiences with a compelling collaboration between instrumentalists known for their precision and emotive playing styles.

On November 10, a unique concert titled “Memories of Florence” will be held, featuring an ensemble of talented musicians. Violinists Jeong Hana and Shin Sung-hee, violists Ahn Yong-joo and Choi Hyo-bi, along with cellists Kim Dae-joon and Lee Ho-chan, will perform pieces inspired by the rich musical history of Florence, Italy. Their performance promises to transport listeners to the Renaissance-era city through a series of expertly curated compositions.

Further fostering international cultural exchange, DMA will present a performance by musicians from Daejeon’s sister city, Sapporo, on November 16. Pianist Kikuchi Reiko and violinist Asano Miki will deliver a concert blending Japanese and Korean musical influences, symbolizing the friendship and collaboration between the two cities.

Yoon Eui-hyang, director of the DMA, expressed the museum's dedication to bringing art closer to the community, saying, “Through these busking events, we hope to offer Daejeon citizens and artists a platform to enjoy diverse forms of art. The Daejeon Music Festival is an initiative to foster local music culture and strengthen community bonds.”

The DMA’s busking series is designed not only to highlight the visual arts but also to showcase a range of live music performances that enhance the cultural experience for visitors. This event series allows residents and tourists alike to enjoy free outdoor concerts in a museum setting, broadening accessibility to the arts.

In addition to curated events, the DMA is also actively seeking participants for future busking performances, inviting musicians and artists to bring their talents to this unique cultural venue. By offering an open call for artists, the museum underscores its commitment to creating a vibrant, inclusive space that celebrates both visual and performing arts.

This series aligns with the museum’s vision to become a cultural hub where art and community intersect, enriching Daejeon's local arts scene and attracting broader public engagement. The DMA hopes that these performances will not only entertain but also deepen appreciation for the arts across generations.
