Amazon Games has announced a significant global server integration for "Throne and Liberty," the MMORPG developed by NCSoft. According to the company’s statement on January 30 (local time), the server merge will take place 122 days after the game’s global launch on October 1, 2023.
As the publisher for the game outside of South Korea, Amazon Games will reduce the total number of global servers from 107 to 25, aiming to balance player distribution and improve overall gameplay stability.
The new server structure will consolidate North America East from 25 servers to 5, North America West from 11 to 3, South America from 15 to 3, Europe from 46 to 11, and Asia-Pacific (East Asia) from 10 to 3.
The server merge process will roll out in three phases:
February 6: Auction house integration
February 13-27: Free character transfers
February 27: Final server merge implementation
Amazon Games explained that the decision was made to normalize player distribution across servers and ensure a more stable and engaging gaming experience.
"By consolidating servers, we aim to create a more dynamic and balanced world for players, ensuring smoother gameplay and a more vibrant community," an Amazon Games spokesperson stated.
The server integration reflects broader industry trends in MMORPG management, where merging fragmented player bases has become essential for maintaining healthy in-game economies, active PvP battles, and community engagement.
As "Throne and Liberty" continues to evolve in the global market, the upcoming changes are expected to enhance player experience and strengthen long-term retention.
