Veteran Midfielder's Stellar Performance Keeps Mainz Clear of Relegation Zone

Lee Jae-sung showcased his skills in Mainz's recent Bundesliga match against Darmstadt, contributing two goals and an assist in a decisive 4-0 victory. The match, held at Mewa Arena in Mainz, Germany, saw Lee's involvement from the start, as he assisted Andreas Hanche-Olsen for the opening goal in the 32nd minute. Lee then secured two goals of his own in the 80th and 84th minutes, earning himself the title of man of the match.

With a stellar performance, Lee attained an 8.8 rating from statistics aggregator Whoscored.com, distinguishing himself as the highest-rated player on the field. His current tally for the 2023-24 Bundesliga season stands at four goals and four assists, matching his personal best for assists in the league.

Lee's recent form indicates his readiness for the final stretch of the season, with six of his eight goal involvements occurring in the last five games. As a veteran midfielder with over 80 appearances for Mainz and the Korean national team, Lee's contract with Mainz was recently extended through 2026.

Mainz's victory over Darmstadt keeps them one point clear of the automatic relegation zone, currently sitting in 16th place with six games remaining. They will face Hoffenheim in their next match, aiming to maintain their position and secure their spot in the league.
