ASYAAF2022, Korea's largest youth art festival, will be held from July 26 to August 21 at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Hongik University. ASYAAF2022, which celebrated its 15th anniversary this year, will select 500 participating artists and exhibit about 1,000 works.
It is divided into the 'ASYAAF' section, which selects young artists between the ages of 20 and 35, and the 'Hidden Artist' section, which opens the door to artist aged 36 and over.
At this art fair, you can see the colorful works of young artists who will lead the future korea art market, and you can directly purchase the works you want.
The works on display are high-quality works that have been evaluated by a judging committee of about 50 people, including art university professors, curators, critics, and gallery representatives.
Works submitted to the ASYAAF section can be purchased for a maximum of 2300 dollars or less(3 million won).
Kiaf SEOUL 2022, KIAF Plus & Frieze Seoul
In September, Kiaf SEOUL 2022, Korea's largest art fair, and Kiaf PLUS, a satellite expo, will be held simultaneously. Kiaf SEOUL 2021, held as an offline event for the first time in two years last year(because of the COVID-19 pandemic), was a huge hit. During the five days of the exhibition, about 88,000 visitors watched and the total sales amounted to 60 million dollars.
There is a reason why Kiaf SEOUL 2021, which will be held this year, has attracted attention. KIAF Seoul will be co-hosted in Seoul in September with Frieze(Frieze Seoul) of England, which is called the world's three largest art fairs along with Art Basel in Switzerland and FIAC in France.
The reason why Frieze, a world-famous art fair, is landing in Korea is because of the analysis that South Korea will become the center of the Asian art market in the future. It is said that Korea is a strong Asian market that will replace HongKong. There are several reasons, The most important of them is the Korean government does not impose tariffs or value-added tax on the import and export of art, so it is a good market for world-class products to be distributed.
Moreover, in recent years, the quality of life of korean people has improved to the extent that Korea has entered a developed country, and it is showing its world-class capabilities in various cultural contents fields such as movies, dramas, and popular music. In fact, Korea is the best in Asia in the field of cultural contents.
Kiaf PLUS will be launched for the first time this year. It will be held at the same time at SETEC, about 2km away from COEX, where Kiaf SEOUL 2022, the main art fair, is held. The organizer mentioned, "KIAF Plus will be an art fair that not only includes the existing contemporary art, but also various genres such as NFT."
Kiaf SEOUL 2022 will be held at COEX from September 3 (Sat) to September 6(Tuesday), and Kiaf PLUS will be held at SETEC from September 2(Fri) to September 5(Mon).
A world-famous gallerist is watching whether Korea will emerge as a leading Asian country even in the field of art.
