The Seongbo Museum of Yongchuk Temple, under the direction of Director Jin Eung, is hosting a solo exhibition titled “The Essence of Happiness Aesthetics” by artist Hyeon Seo Jeong from September 7 to 25 in the museum’s second-floor special exhibition hall.
This exhibition features 25 paintings by Hyeon Seo Jeong, showcasing her distinctive approach to representing subjects such as lotus flowers, peonies, sunflowers, koi fish, and water in simplified and clear imagery.
Hyeon Seo Jeong, who earned a master’s degree in Western painting from Yeungnam University, has held 25 solo exhibitions since her debut in Pohang in 2004, and has been recognized for her work through various domestic and international art fairs, curated exhibitions, and group shows.
The artist stated, “Historically, paintings with feng shui aesthetics have been believed to possess powerful energy that promotes happiness, family harmony, and prosperity. Through this exhibition, I aimed to convey a modern and new aesthetic of happiness, distinct from traditional interpretations, using simplified and clear colors and forms to bring a sense of abundance into the viewer’s life.”
