Despite a 13-game unbeaten streak leading up to the tournament, Klinsmann faced ongoing criticism for his tactical decisions.
The reports indicate that the CFA is financially equipped to meet Klinsmann's annual salary, estimated at around 2.9 billion won ($2.1 million) during his tenure as the Korean national team manager. The final decision on Klinsmann's appointment remains uncertain, as the CFA is also considering former Qatari national team manager Carlos Queiroz and former Omani national team manager Branko Ivankovic for the role.
China is set to participate in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers next month, facing Singapore in a home-and-away format series. The first match is scheduled for March 21, followed by the second on March 26. In the current standings, China occupies third place in Group C, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the third round of qualifiers.
