Suga, a member of the globally renowned South Korean boy band BTS, recently made headlines during his first solo world tour by declaring his preference for Samsung Galaxy smartphones over iPhones. At a special event during his solo concert in Newark, New Jersey, on March 28th, Suga encouraged fans to take selfies with their smartphones, stating, "Only the Galaxy is different, not the iPhone." He even requested that fans use only Samsung smartphones for the event.
BTS has been the face of Samsung's advertising campaigns for its Galaxy S20 series and foldable products since 2020. In addition, the company has released a "Galaxy S20 Plus BTS Edition" aimed at BTS fans. After the concert, Suga further emphasized his affinity for Samsung in a live broadcast on the fan communication platform Weverse, where he showed a sticker attached to the back of his Galaxy smartphone and joked about being an advertisement model for Samsung home appliances.
Samsung Electronics has been actively collaborating with BTS to promote its products, including posting videos featuring the boy band before and after the unpacking of the Galaxy Z Fold 4 series in Times Square, New York, and Piccadilly Square, London, last August.
Suga's preference for Samsung Galaxy smartphones has sparked conversations among both BTS and smartphone enthusiasts. The South Korean company's active collaborations with the popular boy band have also contributed to its growing brand awareness and popularity among young consumers worldwide.
