Cardi B has responded to a lawsuit alleging that she and her estranged husband, Offset, tricked the owner of a Beverly Hills mansion into letting them film a music video for her song “Like What” almost for free.

According to the mansion owner’s complaint, Cardi and Offset aimed to use the distinctive glass and aluminum home, previously inhabited by Justin Bieber, without paying the full market value. The property owner, identified as Bi LLC, claimed the couple booked the house anonymously under the false pretense that it would be used for a TikTok video. Instead, they made the property’s unique architecture the centerpiece of their full-length music video.

The lawsuit accuses Cardi and Offset of trespassing, unjust enrichment, and intentional misrepresentation, seeking all profits from the “Like What” video and punitive damages. The complaint includes still photographs from the video shoot and notes that the video has garnered over 26 million views on YouTube in six months.

In her social media post, Cardi refuted the claims, stating they paid $10,000 in cash to rent the property for 24 hours and paid overage fees for an extra hour. She emphasized that the property had cameras everywhere and that both the realtors and owners were present the entire time.

Earlier this month, Cardi and Offset welcomed their third child together. Despite announcing their split over the summer, they shared the news with a series of Instagram photos. Cardi has also hinted at a follow-up to her debut album Invasion of Privacy, with plans to release a new album in 2024.
