In Saturday's match against Crystal Palace at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, Son Heung-min, captain of Tottenham Hotspur, broke a two-month goal drought by scoring the team's third goal in the 88th minute. The 3-1 victory saw Son's return to the scoresheet since rejoining Spurs after the Asian Football Confederation Asian Cup in February.
Pouncing on a loose ball just past the halfway line in the opponent's territory, Son executed a decisive run towards the box, concluding with a right-footed shot into the bottom right corner. This marked his team-leading 13th goal of the campaign, with his last goal recorded on New Year's Eve against Bournemouth.
Acknowledging his fatigue during the match, Son mentioned being "a little bit tired" during his one-man fast break. He emphasized maintaining calmness to ensure accuracy, stating, "I tried to stay as calm as possible because when you get excited, most of the time, you miss the ball. I tried to hit the bottom of the corner, which is what I did today."
Son's goal contributes to Tottenham's standing in the Premier League, where they remain in fifth place with 50 points. Aston Villa holds fourth place with 55 points, but Tottenham has a match in hand, keeping the race for higher positions intense.
