Renowned international figure, Rachel Kwag, acclaimed for her role as the creative consultant alongside jazz virtuoso Bob James, is poised to step onto the global stage with a new artistic endeavor. This time, the spotlight shines on her as a painter, as she unveils her masterpieces at the prestigious "Art Fair Asia Fukuoka 2023 (AFAF 2023)"
Having produced a rich tapestry of international achievements, producer Rachel Kwag, known by her birth name Neunghee Kwag, has long been the driving force behind the legacy of jazz icon Bob James. However, she's now ready to showcase her own prowess as a painter, taking center stage at the esteemed "AFAF 2023." Notably, her reputation as a painter has already been solidified through her participation in several successful exhibitions across Korea, where her work has been warmly embraced by art enthusiasts.
For this noteworthy occasion, She has collaborated with "Art in dongsan," a Korean enterprise specializing in exhibition curation. Anticipation runs high for the Fukuoka Fair, slated to be the most extensive yet. The event is set to feature a conglomerate of 117 galleries, uniting Korean, Japanese, and international art establishments under one roof.
At the heart of this showcase lie five of her most compelling works. Among them, "Bloom" serves as an embodiment of her emotions experienced during a Caribbean voyage to the island of Saint Martin. Reflecting on her journey, she fondly recollects the image of three colossal passenger ships, including the vessel she occupied, gracing the shores of the serene Caribbean isle. A sentiment of concern gripped her – the fear that this pristine paradise might fall victim to the intrusion of tourism's clamor and litter. With this in mind, her brush danced on the canvas, articulating her desire to see the tranquil island restored to its original state, akin to the unfurling petals of a blossoming flower.
Simultaneously, the upcoming AFAF 2023 will also unveil the artistic vision of Choi Sori, renowned for his evocative "visible Sound," alongside luminaries such as Bukang Yu, Minsoo Kang, Junbeom Kim, Sohyeon Guk, Yongju Kim, Eunmi Kim, Meeyoung Nam, Jinju Noh, Heewon Park, Jungsoo Yang, Sangmyun Lee, Sangmee Lee, Jaesook Lee, and Taehyeon Lee. This illustrious event will showcase the masterpieces of 18 artists, spanning both emerging talents and established virtuosos like Kwanhee Lim, Inwan Jung, and Jung mook Jung.
AFAF 2023 will adorn Hall B of Marine Messe Fukuoka from September 22 to 24, 2023. The showcased pieces will also be accessible for viewing on "Art Scenes," a digital marketplace dedicated to the world of art.
