SEOUL — Korean rock band Dragon Pony has been selected as Billboard’s K-Pop Rookie of the Month for May 2025, earning recognition for their musical talent and growing global appeal.
Billboard announced the news on May 15 (local time) in an article titled "Dragon Pony Is Billboard’s K-Pop Rookie of the Month for May", spotlighting the band’s creative depth and momentum in the K-band scene.
Composed of Ahn Tae-kyu, Pyeon Seong-hyeon, Kwon Se-hyeok, and Ko Gang-hoon, Dragon Pony is known for their energetic sound rooted in rock and their hands-on approach to songwriting, composition, and production. Billboard praised the group for "delivering genuine storytelling and redefining modern Korean rock."
The group first made waves performing at major Korean music festivals such as the Busan International Rock Festival, followed by a nationwide club tour. Their growing popularity was further underscored by a sold-out solo concert in Taipei.
In an interview with Billboard, the band said, “It is truly an honor and we are grateful to be selected as ‘K-Pop Rookie of the Month.’ We will work even harder to meet expectations and grow to reach the Billboard charts.”
Looking ahead, Dragon Pony shared ambitious goals, including a world tour and performances at global events such as Glastonbury, Coachella, and even the Super Bowl halftime show.
Dragon Pony is scheduled to hold their solo concert Dragon Pony 1st Concert ‘Not Out’ in Taipei on May 23 and 24. They are also set to perform at major domestic festivals including Beautiful Mint Life 2025 on June 14 and the 2025 Incheon Pentaport Rock Festival on August 1, solidifying their status as one of the most promising newcomers in Korea’s rock scene.
