Deoksu Palace's Seokjojeon, a captivating Western-style architectural gem nestled within the historic palace grounds, is set to enchant the public with a series of special evening programs from October 2nd to November 2nd. Aptly named "Seokjojeon At Night," these exclusive events promise a delightful blend of guided tours, live musical performances, and an enticing 'terrace cafe experience' featuring coffee and Western desserts, all amidst the enchanting backdrop of this architectural masterpiece.
In anticipation of the overwhelming demand for these limited-capacity events, the Cultural Heritage Administration (CHA) has opted to employ a lottery system for ticket distribution, in line with previous years' experiences. The ticket lottery is scheduled to open at 2 p.m. on Thursday, offering an equal opportunity for eager visitors to secure their place in this unique cultural celebration.
Tickets for "Seokjojeon At Night" are priced at 26,000 won ($19) per person. The lottery results will be unveiled on September 20th, enabling successful participants to embark on this exceptional cultural journey.
Explaining the decision to employ the lottery system, the CHA emphasized its commitment to ensuring fairness and accessibility, granting all interested individuals a fair chance to partake in this captivating event.
Seokjojeon, an architectural marvel dating back to 1910, stands as a testament to Western influence in Korean history. Nestled within Deoksu Palace, located in Jung District, central Seoul, this iconic building underwent extensive restoration efforts from 2009 to 2014. Today, it stands proudly as the Daehan Empire History Museum, meticulously preserving its original form. Visitors can explore the living quarters, dining rooms, and reception rooms that once hosted historical figures, including King Gojong.
"Seokjojeon At Night" promises to be a captivating and immersive cultural experience, offering a glimpse into Korea's rich history and architectural heritage, all beneath the evening sky. As the lottery opens, eager participants have the chance to secure their place in this enchanting journey through time.
