Ye-ji Seo is a contemporary Korean painter who is one of the leading young Korean painting cultures. She paints on Korean traditional paper, Hanji with the youthful sensibility of modern people in the traditional way.
She explains why she chose Korean painting, "The process of drawing Korean painting is tricky, but I liked the part where the color of the work changed as the underlying colors were overlapped".
The artist is mainly inspired by the scenery of the room. She explains that when she is with a stranger, she sometimes wants to go home, and whenever that happens, she thinks of a landscape in the room that is familiar with. She paints pictures based on the room to capture the warm feeling of smell familiar to her.
In addition, to capture the small emotions she felt in her daily life, she writes down her daily life or the stories she heard from her friends and expresses them in the artwork. On Korean paper, she records happy or difficult moments and feelings she felt in relationships with others.
The exhibition will be held at dot Museum in Busan until Jan. 3 next year.
