The annual 2023 Blue House Concert is set to grace the former presidential office's heliport in central Seoul's Jongno District on September 9 and 10, as announced by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on Monday.
This two-day musical extravaganza will showcase the acclaimed Korean National Symphony Orchestra (KNSO) alongside the Korea National Opera.
In a press release, Culture Minister Park Bo-gyoon highlighted the significance of the event, stating, "This year marks the second autumn since the Blue House has been open to the public. The 2023 Blue House Concert promises to be an extraordinary gift, uniting the enchanting autumn backdrop of the Blue House with the enchanting strains of K-classical music."
Kicking off on September 9 at 7:30 p.m., the concert will be under the baton of conductor Hong Seok-won from the Gwangju Symphony Orchestra, who will lead the KNSO. The evening will feature a special performance by the popular girl group Mamamoo's Solar and Moonbyul, adding a contemporary twist to the classical affair.
On September 10, beginning at 5 p.m., illustrious opera vocalists Samuel Youn, Lee A-kyeong, Yang Jun-mo, and Rim Sae-kyung will grace the stage. Accompanied by the KNSO, the Korean Adopted Children's Choir will also contribute their harmonious voices to the performance.
Renowned theater director Yang Jung-woong will be at the artistic helm of the 2023 Blue House Concert. Yang, who previously directed the opening ceremony of the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics and the theatrical production "Faust," is expected to infuse his distinctive touch into the event.
A highlight of the concert is its accessibility, as attendance is free for those who reserve their seats in advance. Starting on Wednesday at 10 a.m., reservations will be open, with each individual allowed to secure up to four tickets. For further details, please visit the official Interpark website.
As autumn ushers in its alluring charm, the 2023 Blue House Concert promises to resonate with both music enthusiasts and nature admirers alike, encapsulating the essence of the season while celebrating the public's engagement with this historic venue.
