Gwangju FC manager Lee Jung-hyo publicly criticized midfielder Jasir Asani's performance, expressing concerns about his weight and training capabilities. Lee's comments came before Gwangju's recent match against Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors, which they lost 2-1.
Asani, who previously served as Gwangju's top scorer with seven goals and three assists in 33 league matches last season, has seen limited playing time this year, clocking only 20 minutes in a match against Gimcheon Sangmu on April 6.
Lee emphasized Asani's absence from games, attributing it to his perceived poor performance and highlighting the solid contributions of Gabriel Tigrao in his place. Lee also questioned Asani's selection for the Albanian national team, suggesting that the national team manager should reconsider.
Gwangju FC's recent performance has been marked by a decline since their last victory against Gangwon FC on March 10. The team has suffered five consecutive losses, contrasting sharply with their third-place finish in the previous season.
Currently, Gwangju FC occupies the eighth position in the league standings, with two wins and five losses. The team is scheduled to face Suwon FC at home on April 27 after a two-week break.
