The town of Velaux has unveiled a new spectacular street art piece that is drawing both locals and tourists to the historic center. This latest addition, titled "The Wounded Swallow," joins three other impressive murals that have transformed the town's visual landscape and enhanced its already exceptional heritage.
Building on the success of previous street art installations that have been well-received by both residents and visitors, the municipality of Velaux decided to continue this artistic initiative by commissioning Planète Emergences for the fourth mural project. This organization, which had previously managed the first three murals in Velaux, has gained notable recognition for its work on "the walls of the L2" in Marseille.
Planète Emergences specializes in developing public space projects that combine artistic creation with social cohesion and societal issues. The organization's approach aligns perfectly with Velaux's vision of integrating meaningful art into the community fabric while addressing broader social themes through visual storytelling.
Stéphane Le Camus, director of culture and events, and Valérie San Agustin, who oversees the media library and heritage programs, explained their selection criteria for the new artwork. "The style of Nadège Dauvergne captivated us with her project imbued with femininity and purity," they stated, highlighting the artistic vision that drew them to this particular piece.
The four murals have collectively established Velaux as a destination that successfully blends traditional heritage with contemporary street art. This artistic strategy has proven effective in attracting cultural tourism while providing residents with visually engaging public spaces that reflect both artistic excellence and community values.
