The entry barrier to the Hot 100 is typically high for rookies like Illit due to challenges in scoring well in the radio airplay audience impressions category, often attributed to low recognition in the US.
"Magnetic" also debuted on Spotify’s Daily Top Song Global and Weekly Top Song US charts on March 25, the day of its release. The single achieved further success by topping Melon’s Top 100 and landing on the British Official Singles Top 100 for two consecutive weeks since the first week of April.
Described as a hybrid dance number blending pluggnb and house genres, "Magnetic" was composed with the involvement of Bang Si-hyuk, the founder and head producer of Hybe. Belift Lab, Illit’s agency, highlighted the extensive selection process for the song, which was chosen for its compatibility with the vocal characteristics of Illit members and suitability for short-form content creation.
