Co-organized by MMCA and CCP, the Exhibit Features Works from 12 Korean Photographers

The Center for Creative Photography (CCP) in Arizona is set to host its first-ever exhibition on Korean photography, titled "Wonders and Witness: Contemporary Photography from Korea," in collaboration with the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMCA).

The exhibition, starting Saturday and running until January 27, 2024, will showcase the diverse facets of Korean life since the 1990s through the lens of 12 Korean photographers. These photographers, including Gwon Do-yeon, Kim Ok-sun, Kim Seung-gu, Kim Tae-dong, and Lee Sun-min, present works that delve into themes such as literature, sociology, economy, and religion.

The CCP, located at the University of Arizona's Tucson campus, holds a collection of around 110,000 works by renowned American photographers. This collaboration marks the first exhibition on Korean photography at the CCP.

The photographs featured in the exhibit are drawn from the MMCA's collection, offering a visual exploration of Korea's cultural tapestry. Descriptions accompanying the photographs will be provided in Korean, English, and Spanish.

In addition to the exhibition, a symposium on Korean photography and public talks with the participating artists are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, providing audiences with insights into the perspectives and stories behind the captivating images.
