Yaerim Ryu is a painter in South Korea is a budding artist who works exclusively for the contemporary art gallery Peres Project.
She paints with her perspective the images of Berlin, which began to inhabit, such as the cloudy weather unique to Northern Europe and unfamiliar foreign communities.
Ryu's works have titles that are as interesting as her expression. She said in an interview, "The titles of the paintings may seem unnatural to others, but they are not irrelevant."
The artist also draws by referring to stock images on the Internet. She found the eccentricity in which stock images became commonplace and inspired her in fragmentary images.
In an imaginary community, people, cultures, and backgrounds from foreign countries that are unfamiliar to the eyes of Asians are newly created on the canvas of Korean artist Yu.
Currently, her works are being released through a solo exhibition held at the Peres Project in Berlin.
Her solo exhibition, 'You and Your Sweating Palms', will be held until Jan. 6, 2024.
