Contemporary pottery artist Lee Jae-yong from South Korea is one of the young potters leading the way as a popular one by incorporating practicality into a ceramic culture that is unfamiliar to modern people.
The artist combines traditional pottery-making techniques with his own skills, view of art, and formative beauty to create more practical yet modern ceramics.
Lee's earthenware, which is baked a a higher temperature with his own technique and has excellent water resistance, becomes a beautiful vase with flowers.
Pottery culture has tended to be consumed as high-end art by a small number of people, but the artist is trying to make the public understand ceramic culture in a friendly way by adding practicality and modern technology to ceramics.
If you want to appreciate his work, you can visit his solo exhibition 'Pottery Forest', which will be held until the 22nd.
The exhibition is held at Jiso Gallery in Yuseong-gu, Daejeon.
