In June, a civic group filed a formal complaint with the police, asserting that Hwasa's act was suggestive of "perverted sexual acts sufficient to arouse shame and disgust in the public." After a thorough review, the Seongdong Police Station in Seoul decided late last month not to refer the 28-year-old artist to the prosecution. The decision came after detailed questioning of Hwasa regarding the performance and a careful review of testimonies from staff involved.
