The George Washington University Museum and The Textile Museum in Washington, D.C., are presenting Korean Fashion: From Royal Court to Runway through December 22, 2022.
This is the first exhibition in the United States to show the full range of Korean fashion, from Korea's most recent royal dynasty to the contemporary Hallyu (Korean wave).
This exhibition shows how Korean fashion has changed a lot in the last 125 years, from the late Joseon dynasty to today's haute couture and cutting-edge street style. Since South Korea has become a pop culture powerhouse and one of the most fashionable countries in the world in the 21st century. This exhibition shows fresh-off-the-runway outfits that show how modern designers like Lie Sang Bong are mixing the old and the new, the local and the global, and high and low culture to create a unique and interesting Korean voice.
