Fantasy Series Premieres with a Blend of Magic, Love, and Intrigue

In a delightful collaboration, actors Jo Bo-ah and Rowoon take center stage in JTBC's latest offering, "Destined With You," a whimsical romantic comedy that promises to whisk viewers away on a journey of love and enchantment.

The lighthearted series, which commenced its run on Wednesday with an initial viewership rating of 2.9 percent, introduces audiences to an imaginative world where the lives of two seemingly disparate individuals intersect in unexpected ways. Jo Bo-ah portrays Lee Hong-jo, a resilient civil servant with an unwavering positive outlook on life, while Rowoon embodies Jang Shin-yoo, a star lawyer harboring a secret that transcends generations.

Central to the narrative is a curse that has plagued Jang's family for ages, leading to his inexplicable illness. This all changes when he crosses paths with Lee, who unwittingly holds the key to breaking the curse and setting him free. Lee, a low-ranking official at the Department of Greenery, navigates the challenges of her profession with a remarkable resilience, only to find herself drawn into a world of magic and destiny through an ancient book named Mokham.

Director Nam Ki-hoon, known for his work on the Disney+ romance series "Kiss Sixth Sense" and the tvN thriller "Voice 3," helms this fantastical endeavor. Collaborating with scriptwriter No Ji-seol, acclaimed for the period romance "100 Days My Prince," Nam Ki-hoon endeavors to infuse realism into the fantastical narrative, painting a picture that resonates as much with reality as with imagination.

At a press conference held in Guro District, Seoul, Jo Bo-ah and Rowoon provided insights into their roles and the chemistry that brings the series to life. Jo shared her enthusiasm for portraying Lee, a character she found both charming and relatable. Drawing from her own personality, Jo brought her optimism to the screen, embodying the vibrant spirit of her character.

Rowoon's portrayal of Jang, a lawyer weighed down by a familial curse, represents a departure from his previous roles. The actor expressed his eagerness to delve into a complex character, shedding the "puppy image" that had become his hallmark. Rowoon's commitment to the role even led him to lose weight to authentically embody Jang's genetic illness.
