Art Basel 2023, an art festival involving 4,000 artists and 284 galleries around the world, begins

SEOUL June 12 (SayArt)- Basel (Switzerland) - 'Art Basel 2023' (hereafter referred to as Art Basel), the world's largest art venue, kicked off with a VIP preview in Basel, Switzerland on the 12th local time.

Founded in 1970 by Ernst Beyeler, a famous art dealer based in Basel, Art Basel continues to hold art fairs in Miami Beach, USA, Hong Kong, and Paris, France.

Art Basel 2023 runs until the 18th, and displays and sells various works such as paintings, sculptures, and photographs by 4,000 artists in 284 galleries around the world.

Domestic galleries include Gallery Hyundai and Kukje Gallery. In particular, Gallery Hyundai is participating in Art Basel again after 15 years since 2008.

Gallery Hyundai introduces large-scale white porcelain works collaborated by Ufan Lee and ceramist Youngsook Park, as well as about 40 of his own works, in 'Galleries', a major division of Art Basel. In the 'Unlimited' section, Moon Kyung-ho and Jeon Jun-ho will present video installation works, and in the 'Film' section, Kim A-young's work will be screened. The 'Film' sector deals with artists' film projects.

Kukje Gallery introduces Lee Seung Jio's 'Nucleus' (1974), Wook-kyung Choi's abstract painting 'Untitled' (year unknown), and Kyungah Ham's embroidery paintings (2018-2019). These works are pioneering geometric abstraction.
