In the LCK 2024 Spring Playoffs, Gen.G emerged victorious against T1 in a thrilling final round, securing their fourth consecutive LCK title.
Gen.G's win marks the first time in LCK history that a team has achieved four straight titles, surpassing the defending world champions, T1, in the final playoff round.
The championship match, held at the KSPO Dome in southern Seoul, drew a packed audience eager to witness the clash between two of the world's top League of Legends teams.
Despite T1's previous dominance in the LCK, Gen.G's consistent performance led them to victory in a closely contested best-of-five series.
Gen.G's undefeated playoff run included victories over Dplus KIA and Hanwha Life Esports, while T1 battled their way to the finals after an initial setback against Hanwha.
Following their triumph, Gen.G secured a direct ticket to the bracket round of the Mid-Season Invitational, an international tournament featuring top teams from around the world.
Manager Kim Jung-soo credited the team's performance throughout the regular season and playoffs, expressing determination to excel in the upcoming Mid-Season Invitational.
T1, despite finishing as runners-up, also qualified for the Mid-Season Invitational and will compete in the Play-In stage.
Both Gen.G and T1 will represent Korea at the Mid-Season Invitational in Chengdu, China, scheduled from May 1 to 19, before the commencement of the LCK 2024 summer season in June.
