Jungkook, a member of the globally acclaimed K-pop group BTS, has achieved unprecedented success with his debut solo album, "Golden," which sold over 2.43 million copies in its first week of release, setting a new record for a K-pop solo artist. The EP, unveiled on November 3, reached the milestone of 1 million units sold within three hours and accumulated a total of 2.14 million sales on its release day, marking another record for a solo act in the K-pop scene.
The album swiftly claimed the top position on Oricon's weekly combined album ranking, following its debut at the summit of both the weekly and daily album rankings. Jungkook becomes the second male solo artist, after his BTS bandmate Jimin, to achieve this feat on the Oricon weekly chart.
Notably, the main track from "Golden," titled "Standing Next To You," secured the No. 1 spot on Spotify's daily top songs global chart. This accomplishment is further highlighted by Jungkook's previous single, "Seven (feat. Latto)," being replaced by his latest release. Jungkook becomes the first K-pop musician to simultaneously occupy the top position with three songs on the Spotify daily chart.
These remarkable achievements solidify Jungkook's position as a solo artist and underscore the global impact of BTS members in the music industry. The success of "Golden" reflects not only the artist's individual prowess but also the continued dominance of BTS and its members on the international stage.
