Singer and actress IU, known for her philanthropic efforts, continued her tradition of giving back by donating 100 million won ($73,800) to ChildFund Korea in celebration of Children's Day. This marks the ninth consecutive year of her contributions to various causes benefiting children.
IU, through her agency EDAM Entertainment, made the donation under the name IUaena, a combination of her stage name IU and her official fan club Uaena. She has been actively involved in charitable endeavors since 2008, with regular donations under the IUaena moniker. Since 2015, she has made it a tradition to donate every year on Children's Day, as well as on her birthday on May 16.
The donation comes amidst IU's ongoing world tour titled "HER," which commenced in March with four concerts in Seoul. She has since performed in Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, and Indonesia, with upcoming shows scheduled in Hong Kong on May 25 and 26. The tour is slated to continue with stops in the Philippines, Malaysia, Germany, Thailand, Japan, and the United States, concluding with two encore concerts in Seoul in September.
