Korean sports drama "Rebound" strikes a chord with audiences at Far East Film Festival

Director Chang Hang-jun's latest sports drama, 'Rebound,' has been awarded the Silver Mulberry award at this year's Far East Film Festival (FEFF), held in Udine, Italy. The film, produced by Barunson E&A, impressed audiences with its precise basketball scenes and comical yet heartwarming elements, according to Sabrina Baracetti, a film producer and co-founder of FEFF.

Rebound' is based on the true story of a high school basketball coach and his team's journey to the national championships. It stars popular actors Ahn Jae-hong, Lee Shin-young, Jeong Jin-woon, and Jung Gun-joo.

The FEFF, which focuses on East Asian films, is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. The Mulberry award is given to the film with the most audience votes in the competition sector. Previous Korean films to have won the award include 'Welcome to Dongmakgol' ' (2005), 'Castaway on the Moon' (2009), 'Silent' (2011), and '1987: When the Day Comes' (2017).

Sabrina Baracetti praised 'Rebound' for its courage and honesty, calling it one of the most successful films introduced at FEFF, with a rating of 4.60 out of 5. The film's compelling story and excellent performances have won over audiences, and it has become a must-see for those who love sports dramas.

Director Chang Hang-jun is known for his work on 'The Target' (2014) and 'The Swordsman' (2020), both of which received critical acclaim. With the success of 'Rebound' at FEFF, his latest project is poised to become another hit in his filmography.

The Korean film industry has been gaining global recognition in recent years, with many Korean films receiving international awards and nominations. 'Parasite' (2019), directed by Bong Joon-ho, won four Oscars, including Best Picture, making it the first non-English language film to do so. With 'Rebound' receiving accolades at FEFF, it is another testament to the growing popularity and success of Korean cinema.
