Christian Hidaka is a Japanese-British painter who depicts exotic figures and dreamy space-time on canvas.
Based on his growth background, he presents a unique style of painting that uses both East and West's artistic techniques.
In his work, we can see the mixture of Japanese traditional landscapes and Renaissance paintings. It also has both the Western Chiaroscru technique and the oriental perspective of placing objects obliquely to contain the essence of things.
He describes a mixed culture that spans the East and the West, Europe, and Africa, suggesting that this, though non-mainstream, has always existed in the history of mankind.
Currently, the artist's work can be enjoyed until Dec. 23 through his solo exhibition 'Scène Dorée' held at Gallery Baton in Yongsan-gu, Seoul.
