K-pop sensation Seventeen breaks its own record with 11th EP, surpassing 5.2 million preorder sales for "Seventeenth Heaven."

K-pop phenomenon Seventeen has set a new record with their 11th EP, "Seventeenth Heaven," amassing a staggering 5,206,718 units in preorder sales, according to Pledis Entertainment, the group's agency. The figures were reported by the album's distributor, YG Plus. The EP is scheduled for release at 6 p.m.

This achievement marks a significant milestone in both the K-pop industry and for Seventeen. Their previous release, the 10th EP "FML," had held the record for the highest preorder sales, with 4.67 million copies in April.

The EP "Seventeenth Heaven" is a project entirely crafted by the band's members, with Woozi, a key producer within the group, leading the overall production. Additionally, S. Coups, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Mingyu, and Vernon have contributed to the composition of lyrics and music for the eight tracks featured on the album.

The leading track on the EP, "God of Music," is a lively soul-funk song characterized by its enjoyable fusion of brisk synthesizers and brass instrumentation. The melody for the song was primarily composed by Woozi in collaboration with singer-songwriter Bumzu. Members S. Coups, Mingyu, and Vernon also played a part in shaping the lyrics that convey Seventeen's interpretation of pure joy.

In a statement, the group collectively described the song as an embodiment of the word "festival" and mentioned that it radiates "happy energy," with a particularly enchanting chorus that harmonizes various sounds against a funky rhythm.

The EP contains seven additional songs, including "SOS," produced in collaboration with American electronic musician Marshmello. It also includes three sub-unit tracks: the performance team's "Back 2 Back," the hip-hop quartet's "Monster," and the vocalists' "Yawn." The remaining tracks are "Diamond Days," "Headliner," and an instrumental version of the title track.

With "Seventeenth Heaven," a play on words combining the group's name and the term "seventh heaven," which signifies complete happiness, Seventeen aims to share a sense of elation with its audience.

In their statement, Seventeen expressed their aspirations to achieve the "best" and the pursuit of constant improvement. They expressed the hope that "Seventeenth Heaven" would one day unite the nation under the banner of the "God of Music."

Seventeen, a 13-member multinational boy group, made their debut under Pledis Entertainment in 2015. "FML," their previous EP, not only set a new record for preorder sales but also established records for first-day and first-week sales. Ultimately, the album surpassed 6 million units in sales, marking a historic milestone in K-pop's history.
